MY RESUME

SUMMARY:

 

       Fine art conservator and restorer with over 30 years of professional experience in public and private museums. Trained at the Suzdal Art and Restoration School (easel oil painting and Russian tempera icons) and qualified as a fine-art expert at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv.

       Specializing in the examination, documentation, and treatment of paintings, icons, and ceramics, including authentication and attribution of works, condition assessment, and the care and cataloging of collections. Former Conservation Administrator at the National Museum of History of Ukraine, with a decade of subsequent practice restoring paintings for Manhattan galleries.

       Combines traditional academic restoration methods with modern conservation materials and techniques.

 

SKILLS:

 

  • examination procedures to determine the materials, method of manufacture, and properties of objects or structures and the causes and extent of deterioration or alteration

  • scientific analysis and research to identify historic and artistic methods and materials of fabrication, and to evaluate the efficacy and appropriateness of materials and procedures of conservation

  • documentation procedures to record the condition of an object or site at a specific time, or before, during, and after treatment, and to outline treatment methods and materials in detail

  • treatment, including interventive procedures, as well as passive measures to stabilize an artifact or retard its deterioration

  • restoration to bring a deteriorated or damaged object or structure closer to a previous or assumed appearance or function

  • advising on procedures for the safe exhibition and travel of cultural materials

  • ability to work with the special literature in English and Russian

  • knowledge and experience in the theory and techniques of conservation whose primary occupation is to teach the principles, methodology, and/or technical aspects of the profession

Within five years I took a full course of conservation and restoration of easel oil painting, paintings and icons of 17-19 centuries, which made it possible to engage in the restoration of paintings made ​​in different techniques, in particular: ancient Russian tempera icons. Upon graduation complete a graduate work, which was the restoration of “The Portrait of Patriarch Nikon” from Cyril-Belozersky Monastery (now a museum of Vologda, Russia).
